When should the swim pool filter pump run?
Question:Can somebody tell me when and how often you need to run the filter pump for the water if the pool is covered.
12' x 36" kids pool

the pump should run 24/7 during the warm months of the year even if it is covered so the chemicals that you put in there will contuinally be circulated to insure your pool water stays safe to swim in.If you dont want to pay the higher electric bill from running your pump 24/7 then you should at least run it during the daylight hours
first uncover it then when it is dirty then filter it
Most people agree that the more you run it the better. So 24 hours a day would be optimal, but you have to think of your electric bill. Those things can suck up electricity pretty good.
Under normal conditions, you should be fine with running it at least eight hours a day. That's what I did, and had no problems at all.
many people let them run 24/7 when they are uncovered. when covered, they are not going to get stuff in them, and should not need to run very much at all.
