How can I make the water go down my drain that over flows with water?
Question:How can I make the water go down my drain that over flows with water? I have used every un-clogging product, even virgin lye and nothing works. I have noticed the shower lever continues to get harder to turn. I think it is a mechanical
problem rather than a clog. Someone please HELP!

I hate to say it but you do need a plumber. You used lye to clear a clogg. When you try to snake the line you will bet a chemical burn. TELL your plumber what you did so HE does not get burned. If your pipes are old galvenized or copper then they may need replaced just depends. Lye can eat through wron copper pipes and Galvenized pipes can corrode shut. Try the snake first and go from there.
Your shower Valve either needs rebuilt or replaced, depending on how long you have let it go, water conditions and ect. Depends on the brand too. I can rebuild a 20 year old delta valve. Make it like new. But a 40 year old crane faucet. Not happening, you can no longer get the parts.
Call and ask a plumber for a free estimate. Some will do this.
Use a snake, its the only way to go
You have to get a plumbing snake from a tool rental store and run it in until it clears.
Call a company that specializes in clearing drains and a plumber to fix your shower. These problems require a specialist. Since this site doesn't allow spam, I can't recommend a company, but you can check your yellow pages on line or in the telephone directory.
This is the best nontoxic drain opener you will ever use. Pour 1 cup of salt (rock salt, table salt, any kind) and 1 cup of baking soda down the drain. Follow with a kettle of boiling water. If the problem is congealed grease, it will be gone immediately. For the very best results don't use the drain for several hours. If you need a stronger product, use 2 tablespoons of washing soda (available where laundry products are sold) dissolved in 1 quart of hot water and pour it slowly down the drain. Flush with hot water after 10 minutes.
If this desn't work then you will need to call in a plumber. I may be a problem behind the wall where the water pipes are.
