How much would it cost for an electrician?

Question:I have some lighting in my kitchen that doesn't work. It's not the light bulbs or the light switch. Does anyone have an idea of what it mght cost me to get an electrician to come figure out the problem?

Answers:
you may be able to get your lighting repaired by a handyman, is the light in question a fluorescent?
if so it`s most likely the ballast

I charge 50 dollars for first hour and 35 dollars for every hour after that...the reason for the higher first hour is to cover the gas, wear and tear of my vehicle plus to help pay for the classes i have to keep taking and the insurance so i can have an electrical license to do work for you..
Humm the company I work for charges $125 bucks just to show up, and 106 bucks and hour. I charge $50 an hour for my work on the side.
My husband is a Master Electrician. What he charges depends on the nature of the job. Also, what you are going to get charged depends largely on where you live. He prefers industrial work, but for residential he usually charges $40/45 per hour, plus materials. I have no idea where you live, so that could vary wildly.
Call one and ask depends on what and how long the service call is
It depends on the area, as far as the price, I charge $75 per hour. I can have something like that fixed in a hour or less. Sounds like your fixture ballast is bad,or if it is incandecent, just replace the fixture,if you have one ready for the electrician he won,t have to charge you to go to the supply store..Mike
Go to your electrical panel and check the breakers, It should be a 15 or 20 amp breaker that tripped, alll you need to do is reset it to the ON position.
