The humidity in my house is 50-80%, with the AC on. What could be causing this?

Question:The AC is cooling, and the temp inside is consistent with the setting on the thermostat (between 72 and 80, depending on time of day). I had the coolant checked, and the filter changed, but no improvement. Even with the temp at 72, it feels hot and sticky. Help!

Answers:
I can't help but wonder if your A/C unit is oversized or too big for your job. People love to think that bigger is better, but if an A/C unit is too big, it will not run long enough to take out the humidity before it drops the temp to the thermostat setting and shuts off. You could have a HVAC professional check the unit for proper sizing or, try running a dehumdifier to lower the humidity. It shouldn't be necessary, but it would be a temporary fix and might be preferable to replacing the unit.

Don't mean this to be a best answer, but in my house in Colorado I had a humidity gauge for the AC in the basement. Never had seen that before, even with central air -- and the gauge was sort of out of the way, so that if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't have found it. On the off chance that this helps, good luck.
what you need is to have a dehumidifier installed in your system, it will work automatically.you could have poor insulation and a lot of air leaks,
Get metal roofing. It reflects heat effectively keeping your house cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
