Use a paint sprayer that feeds from paint can?

Question:Planning on painting basement rafters rather than putting up ceiling in basement. Thinking of using a paint sprayer that feeds from can (via tubing/hose) to sprayer. Has anyone used one of these? Did it work well? Any problems with over spray? If so, did you try anything that worked?

Thanks, in advance!

Answers:
Yes-rent a small airless sprayer-the small ones have a pick up tube that goes into the paint can-you will need at least a five gallon bucket of paint so pop off the top and spray away.

Over spray-well just cover what you don't want any paint on with tape and plastic-tin foil can cover say a valve or light socket(bulb not illuminating,of course)Put tarps down on floor,cardboard over windows etc..;

Watch you fingers-the paint comes out of the tip under ALOT OF PRESSURE,wear a mask etc.

Make sure you dust the ceiling and beams real good-Thin the paint with about a quart of water to a five and spray away-start in an out of the way place to get the hang of it and in no time you will be havin a blast-Bout 5 minutes to figure it out and get your technique down

Put the "gun" in water,have a beer or two and when dry spray another coat on

JUST MAKE SURE WHAT YA DONT WANT PAINTED IS COVERED but after a bit you will be able to control the spray pattern

have fun--when its done you will say WOW
