What size dehumidifier do I need for a single story 1800 sqft house?

Question:I live in the humid Central Texas area and want to boost my window air conditioning. Is it best to use one large capacity in the middle or two smaller units at opposite ends of long house?

Answers:
The previous answerer must have been been confused since they told you about a humidifier NOT a dehumidifier. I suspect you would be better with a couple of smaller units at opposite ends of the house. You could certainly increase your comfort my place a dehumidifier in that part of the house you use the most, but dehumidifiers aren't cheap to run. Since a big part of Air Conditioning is removing the humidity, you might be better off to just run good efficiency A/C units, since I suspect a two dehumidifiers will cost as much to run as one small Air unit. Good luck.

Aprilaire model 700 is a power driven fan blowing humidifier for your forced air furnace. it can do homes from 1500 ft to 2400 sq ft.

Aprilaire 600 is a bypass model witch uses return air to push the water into the duct work. It can do about 1200 sq ft to 2000 sq ft.

Either one is a great buy, but I opt for the 700. Less bulk and duct work to install.

Aprilaire is the best choice also because you can get replacement panels just about anyplace on the planet.
