Why is my air conditioner running better when the access panel is off.?

Question:We had the panel off for a while because it was leaking, when I put the panel back on I noticed that the air isn't as cool or strong. Why is this and is there any way we can get it to work with the panel on?

Is this the panel on the air handler (inside unit) or the condenser (outside unit)?

It sounds like you have a poorly designed duct system that is restricting air flow or the system is very dirty. Also make sure the filters are clean and that none of the ducts have collapsed.

If it is the condenser outside make sure the coils are clean and the fins are not damaged.
