How can I get candle wax off untreated pine?

Question:Some was also spilt all down the new fireplace and mantlepiece. Is there any way of getting it off those artificial coal type pieces you get in gas fires? My mate had a new one put in as a gift to her Nan and someone has got candle wax on the pine surround and 'coal' effect pieces in the fire itself. How can we save it? It looked amazing. Now looks waxy! She does not need to be told to put the candles away. Already been done. Will we have to buy some new ''coal'' or is there a way to get rid of it?

I feel for you.
We had a custom made huge candle melt a little hole in the side and all the liquid wax on top of the large candle drained onto/into the carpet.
An iron and throw away rags got the fabric of the carpet back up, but never did get all the wax out.
Taught us to always have a candle, regardless how big it is, in some sort of holder, plate, whatever it needs to contain runoff.

try placing a towel on the wax and run an iron over it.
Try using a hot iron on a paper towel over the wax.

Curious, I had a candle melt on my dresser last night. I scraped off what I could with a credit card and ironed out what had spilt on the carpet. Try melting it gently.taking off what you can with a piece of kitchen paper.
get a large saw and cut it out!
Heat the wax using highest setting on a hairdryer then blot off with kitchen paper/towel.
