I need new microwave over stove- does it matter which one?

Question:I need to replace my microwave over the stove- does it matter which one I buy? In other words can I purchase any microwave oven that will fit in the slot above the stove, or are there special microwaves for that area?

You have to buy one that is designed for over the range. Any over the range microwave will fit. I just got one about a month ago and decided to not just get a regular over the range microwave, but one that will also serve as a second stove if needed which cooks faster than the stove. It cost a bit more but very well worth it.

I think you can buy anyone as long as it will fit in that area. We have a black Whirlpool microwave. We had it put in when we built this house. It seems to be decent.
