Would it work if I ran my window AC inside on a chair with a bucket behind it to catch the condensation?

Question:Do window AC's give off heat out the back that is usually pushed out the window?

Answers:
Above answer is correct.

its going to recirculate hot air back into the room, but it will work but not effectively.
Yes--they do put out heat. Do you not have a window?
first, everyone above is correct. Not only will it dump unwanted heat in the very area where you are trying to remove it, it will run non-stop trying to do it, run up your electric bill and soon cause you to lose interest in watching an a/c vibrate onto a damp floor.
If you can't window mount it try another source of cooling .
Above answers are correct, but it would begin to feel a bit cooler as it would be a good dehumidifier as long as you have an effective way to catch to condensation. Maybe not a bad idea for a pool room, if you just want to dehumidify and not cool.
Everything above is right, also, though, depending on the AC unit, you could be emitting harmful gas into your apartment. Carbon Monoxide is most common one. Try a dehumidifier, it will cool down the room 10-15 degrees and you need no ventillation.
not a good idea. The unit will put out too much heat & the exhaust will probably be unbearable if not toxic. when we were trying to decide where to locate our a/c, we were gonna have it vented into the garage. upon reading the installation maual, however, it said not to vent it into a garage. so we ended up cutting a hole in the wall directly below the bay window in the living room.
No. You would end up making the room warmer. An air conditioner works by moving heat from one place to another. If the whole unit is inside the room it will just recycle the heat. In addition the power used by the motor will end up as additional heat in the room. You might decrease the humidity but you certainly won't decrease the temperature.
