Why am I getting hot water out of the cold taps and in the toilet?
Question:We are getting hot water coming out the cold taps in the faucets (bathtub, shower, bathroom sink, etc) and getting hot water in the toilet. We have to fun the cold water for about 2 minutes before we get cold water. We living in a one story house built in 1975 in the San Diego Area. We can feel heat coming from under the carpet and under the bathroom tiles. This has only been going on for about a week. We haven't made anything changes.

Could be a volcano under the house!
had this happen once on a service call. We traced it back to a hot water tank. The cold water inlet has a pipe that directs the cold water to the bottom of the tank , it can break off and cause part of the problem , the other part of the problem was a kitchen faucet mixing valve that had some how gotten broken to the point that it allowed water to run into the cold water side of the system. Now, assumming that NOTHING has been changed to any water fixture in the house, start there. Its very hard to solve this one with out seeing the problem. In the end, call a plumber. this is not a novice problem. good luck!
Well, other that saying that you don't need to worry about sterilizing your toilets, (sorry, bad joke!), I would suggest checking the temperature setting on your hot water tank. If this above the normal recommended setting, your tank will produce over heated water, which will cause a excess build up of pressure in your water lines. The only way to expend this pressure is by finding an alternative route, which very well may be your cold water lines. If left unchecked, you could wind up with a burst water pipes, which could lead to costly expenses.
If it is not the water tank tempurature, then I would suggest calling your local plumber.
Or perhaps a priest, to exorcise your pipes!!
Hope this helps.
This happens to us every year when it starts to get hot. we also live in Cali and our water pipes are not buried very deeply and our house has virtually no insulation so when we run any water inside it is hot for a few minutes because it has been baking in 100+ degree heat all day. But I would still call a plumber because this may not be the case for you.
I cant understand why your e.z.g wouldnt work, if its connected properly, the return switch to the imput board should route directly to the s.k.h panel, and that will show up on your balance equilizer.
