Pipe cement/glue fumes...?

Question:They're doing some plumbing work in my office building, and theres a pretty bad smell from the pipe cement/glue that they're using. As bad a smell as standing in a freshly painted room. so pretty bad.

My question is, is this toxic? the air is circulated throughout the building. the time they did work on it, last week, I got a pretty significant headache.

Answers:
yes it definately can be a hazard. Even though I worked in a well venilated area over the years I found I became more sensitive to the fumes. You must be especially sensitive since it can cause headaches you should be ok since it was a short term exposure. But if the work continues ask your employer for extra fans or maybe an area where your further away until the work is done

I'm sure it is toxic. Not sure what kind of pipe they are using but PVC GLue as most glues have an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) on them which will tell all AND contractors are REQUIRED to have copy of MSDS sheets WITH THEM when in use.
Here is one for PVC GLue:

sounds like you were getting high off of the cement fumes the only thing you can do is close off the vent and take a lot of cig. breaks outside.
