Does a well pump need priming?
Question:My well pump is sucking up lots of Mud, I have shortened the length of the water line by 4 1/2 feet. preparing for Summer operation, as is necessary to do every season. either i lengthen the line or shorten it depending on the season. This is my first time doing either as i just bought this house.

If it's a shallow well pump yes if it's a deep well pump that fits down in your well no as for shortening we don't touch ours
Growing up in Michigan, my Dad had to prime our well pump sever times, so I would assume you would have to do the same. Good Luck!!
