After I shock my above ground pool, what is the next step before anyone can swim?
Question:I don't know what kind of pool it is, or filter or anything. I moved in and the pool was there. It is small and round. There was no cover over the winter so the water is green. Any suggestions?
Answers:
well first make sure you have the filter turned on and the basket empty. then do a backwash . that gets the trapped material from inside the tank out onto the ground.
now that you have shocked the pool you need to vacuums it .
you put a hose in the filter part attach the vac brush at the other end remove all the air then vac the pool .
do another backwash after each vac and then once a week .
check the pH and chlorine levels every day . you need a tester to do that . when you buy one get it from a pool store measure your pool depth and length width . they will then tell you how many gallons of water are in the pool and what amount of chemicals you need to be adding on average per week.
in addition you can take a clean sample of the pool water to the store and they will test it for you and tell you what you need to do to the water to get the balance . this is done with chlorine acid and soda ash. they will explain all this to you .
after that just run the filter all the time swim in it and from time to time take a hard bristle brush in the water with you as you swim about you brush the walls with it . its kind of fun .
i hope you have fun in your pool .
make sure a child can not get in your pool even for a second without your knowledge.
