My microwave trips the breaker when I plug it in. I have had it for about a year.?

Question:We moved to a new apartment a couple of weeks ago. It worked fine until now.

Answers:
Too much amps on that circut maybe turn off other appliances on that circut breaker when in use thats what I do and have no problems unless I forget to turn the ac to low or run the dishwasher at the same time.

Maybe your apartment has old wiring. I had a place in SF that was really touchy. The breakers always blew if I had a couple things plugged in. Try limiting the items you have on that breaker.

I ask about the wiring now whenever I move somewhere.
A similar situation happened to my parents. It turned out that there were too many appliances plugged into the same breaker or wiring area. They ended up having an electrician come in to fix the problem. Perhaps you can talk to your land lord about the issue and he/she can fix it. Otherwise, you will have to use only a couple of items at a time. Figure out exactly what the breaker controls. If you kitchen and your living room are one area, your entertainment system could be overloading the breaker.
About the only thing you really can do is cut back the number of items that are plugged into the circuit in question.

Don't count on your landlord to upgrade the electrical in your apartment, it's NOT going to happen.
Check the wall plugs in your apartment as the wires behind the wall plug may be reversed and not grounded. Buy a cheap tester for reverse polarity, they are about $4.00.it is a yellow plug with a 2 prongs and a ground, it has 4 or 5 lights red, green and yellow, It tells you if the wall plug is wired right.
I would check all your wall plugs. The only other problem could be a weak Magnatron. Replace the Magnatron or buy a new microwave
A microwave should be on a ckt by itself if its a large microwave on high power pulls about 12 amps there abouts. Like the other posting saying sound like there are"other" loads on that ckt you will have to move it or reduce the load on the ckt
