Removing carpet glue from concrete patio?
Question:The previous tenants in our home installed outdoor carpet on the front patio and part of the driveway. We've pulled up the carpet but the glue they used when they laid the carpet is a real pain to remove with a scraper. Anyone know of something that we can use to make the glue removal easier?
Answers:
it might sound drastic but i put some tile on a concrete floor and i went too a rental store and got an attachment to go with my buffer and it was made to scrap glue off concrete...worked fast and easy.
Boric acid & a scrub brush
Go to the flooring sectionof the home store and get some floor stripper. It is caustic and smelly, but it works well.
"Goof off" works well for adhesives as well.
Try W-D 40,it dissolves so many messy things.
When I moved into my Condo I had a similar experience and I used finger nail polish remover. It didn't get it all but it got most of it. It depends on how long it's been there, you may try an Home Improvement book or store, they should be able to help you. If you use the polish remover you have to use a lot and let it sit for about 10-15 mins before you resume scraping.
