Do microwave ovens have fuses?
Question:It just stopped. Didnt flame or blow up. Or act weird. It just acted like someone unplugged it. Just stopped. Clock and everything. Just like power was pulled from the wall. AND YES..I already tried different outlets and to ones I know are working correctly. So I am curious, if they have fuses that I can purchase and fix? It is right over the warranty and was an expensive one. Dont want to buy a new one ..if possible.
Answers:
yes there is a fuse, but also a capacitor, be careful a capacitor holds allot of power even if unplugged and off for a year; you can still get zapped. I also would suggest having it checked by professional, because if the fuse blew you have to ask why, there maybe more there then just a fuse problem.
There should be a fuse in the plug top of the microwave
yes they do,you have to remove cover and there is a smaal round fuse.
Have you checked the fuse in the plug ?
If that's good then you need a repair shop - they do have an internal fuse but you don't want to be messing around inside it unless you really know what you're doing. Failing that a new microwave will only cost around £29 anyway.
Mine did the same. I traced it down to a faulty switch. At least that it is what I think it is because the switch is sticky. Or rather if I push the switch hard I got it to work once. Others I have had it stopped because the door did not shut properly.
The first was an expensive industrial machine with the faulty switch. The door faulty one was a cheap and nasty one.
I have not taken it apart and maybe I never will.
Fuses blow for a reason. You can replace it but more then likely it will fail again.
most have a 15 amp ceramic fuse
if it is on the same wall as your refrig and your refrig
kicked on frrom defrost while you were using microwave it could blow fuse
