Is it gas? Do you have Gas? is it a tank? May be they sold you an empty tank. Get a cup of HOT water and pour it on the side of the tank. If if gets frosty, than it has gas in it. Are you connecting the hose to the tank correctly? Sometimes when you connect the tank the safety valve interferes. Are you using a new tank? They have been remodelled so to speak, and now have a new valve on them and an old tank won't fit a new BBQ. Are the connections tight? Are the venturi tubes fitted correctly? Do you have an automatic ignighter? Is it the kind that takes batteries? Are the batteries new? Do you smell gas when you turn it on? You know what,Take it back ,and have them check it out for you. Doesn't take that long, and it should have been tested at time of Assembly. Good luck. Bye
first, start with the obvious: (gas in tank, tank valve turned on), then start eliminating the other possible causes one by one...
(1) make sure ignition switch has a new battery
(2) make sure cable that runs from the ignition switch to the igniter is securely fastened to its post (on both ends)
(3) make sure that the contact posts for ignition are clean and corrosion free...(if corrosion has set in, take a small piece of fine sandpaper or emry cloth and buff area clean, then spray WD-40 on contacts to avoid future corrosion)
(4) check to make sure ignition wire is in new condition...if not, current will not pass thru to operate igniter
If its new, back to the store it goes.
Some instructions to your grill might say to open the gas tank 1/4 of the way and then ignite. I found this to be incorrect for some gas tanks. I had to open my Blue Rhino tank 100% open in order to startup my grill. At 1/4 open the valve was not even open. I had to turn the handle about 4-5 total full turns. Hope this helps you.
