What is the metal ring called that goes around the drain in the bathtub??

Question:I need to find out if it's possible to have that one piece replaced, but it would help to know the name of that part. Thanks for any info!!

Answers:
Its called a Strainer and it screws into a drain waste shoe BUT unless you have access under your tub I would NOT recommend replacing it as when you unscrew the old one the drain waste shoe will proberly drop down and you won't be able to put the new one on.

cant recall the name of the piece but it generally screws down into the trap. just go to the home improvement store to the bath section you will see all of the replacement parts hanging up. the hard part will be finding someone to ask the tool to unscrew the drain is called a dumbell wrench this web site shows you best
It's a bathtub drain. Here is one web site with repair parts:

Additional comment on question's Additional Details:

If you change the two pieces one at a time, the drain and overflow assembly behind the tub will probably not move. The drain fitting should start to rise up out of the tub as you loosen it. If it doesn't, you've got some play in the fitting and it may become necessary to get behind your tub. There is almost always an access panel for this purpose. It may be hidden in a closet.

Take care that you don't displace the rubber washers that are between the tub and the drain and overflow assembly behind the tub. These washers prevent leaking when the fittings are tightened. And you should use some fresh plumber's putty under the drain fitting. Roll out a ball of it in your hands to about a 1/4" diameter and wrap it around the fitting before screwing it into the pipe.

Here's a sketch of the whole assembly:
