How the heck do cords get so frigggin wrapped up into knots?
Question:I'll wrap a cord in a neat coil, and come back later to find when I uncoil the cord, it's all in knots and wrapped up on itself.
Answers:
Little trolls come by in the middle of the night and tie them in knots. I once set a motion detecting, infra-red video camera next to a few 300 foot extension cables that I had in the garage and closed the door. Hours later, I went back to find them in knots. I viewed the film and watched the trolls happily tying them into knots, and wrapping the cords around each other. Unfortunately, the same trolls later came back and destroyed the tape. I found it cut into little ½ inch squares with a note saying “nice try”.
they're possessed lol
Same way that wire hangers try to mate in your closet. Either that or someone else in the house is using the item and doesn't know how to wrap well. I vote for the wire hanger theory but in this case the cord is trying to escape to mate with another cord lying close by.
b/c cords are annoying.

I hate cords for that same reason seems no matter what you do they tangle. years ago I started using the "electricians" method of wrapping them up. Its pretty simple but hard to explain in writing. I'm sure you have seen cords wrapped this way though. It looks like a series of circles. The cord is doubled and the end loop is pulled through to make a circle then the next section is pulled through this circle and so on and so on. this method virtually eliminates all the tangling on the cords when un coiled.
Good luck
have you tried to tie in loops you know make a loop pull some of cord thru make a loop pull some cord thru makes a nice way the store will never wrap in knots a can easer to store and when you pull it from that one end it all come back out no knots... is faster too is a neat trick learn when dealing with alot of cords and hoses
My pet peeve is an improperly wrapped up cord. there are three wires in a cord and all need to be straight before they are wrapped up, then wrapped in a way to keep them from twisting. not difficult to do once you get it right.
If it is round cord, untwist it as you are coiling it. The jacket has a tendency to twist as you wrap it around your arm, so untwist as you coil. I have kept my extension cords in good shape for 30 years.
