How do you mix paint that has been sitting a long time?
Question:I am painting a room and bought the paint a while back and I don't know how to mix it well.
Answers:
If your paint is that old you may just consider buying new. Newer paint will always go on better. Cut your losses and buy fresh!
You need a good strong stick, .start stirring it from the top of the can, and gradually work your way down to the base of the can, until the consistency is even
bring it back to where you got it and ask them to shake it for you..or get a mixing attachment for your drill
How long is a long time?
Is it so old that it's no longer a liquid?
Of course not... or else you wouldn't be asking how to mix it!
Anyhoo... use a paint stick... looks just like a ruler, but it's made for mixing.
Or use a ruler... you know what?
Even an old spatula would do the job.
Try shaking the can/bottle.
Hope it helps!
It is most likely a water based interior paint. Open the can and using a paint stir stick or paddle, just start stirring until the consistency is the same.
OR you could take it back to the place it was purchased and have them put it on their 'automatic shaker' machine.
Either method will work.
