I am movin into an apartment and it wasnt freshly painted. iwant to paint it fresh.?
Question:is it my landlords resonsibility or mine??
Answers:
you should discuss it with the landlord. It is common practice for a fresh coat of paint to be applied before a new tennant moves in, but you might can work something out with the landlord if you do it yourself. I did one time and purchased the paint myself and got a months free rent. It ended up costing me 175 bucks in paint and a day of painting, but it saved me on a months rent in the end. Just talk it over with him/her.
u can do it, but when you leave make sure you paint it back to its original color.
it is your responsibility if you already signed the lease. if it is a color your landlord approves of you can ask for the cost of repainting to be knocked of your next rent payment. if your landlord only approves of white, and you want it another color, you'll have to paint it in secret. Paint it back before you leave, or you may not get your security deposit back.
if you move in you are accepting the apartment like it is and then you could have to wait until he is ready to paint it and that could be never. I would suggest you paint it and then you get the colors and type you want instead of whatever is sold in bulk (which is mostly white or off white & not washable ) So I would take the time to paint (it is inexpensive and a way to make your place ..you)before I got alot of things put away and have fun it is yours while you rent it and enjoy it by making it yours. Congrads on your new place
I was involved with property maintenance for 17 years for a variety of property owners. I have painted at least 1000 apartments. Having also served as the maintenance coordinator, I can tell you that it is a standard practice to have the apartment looking "new" when the resident moves in. The process is called "make-ready" and as the term implies, it involves getting the apartment ready for a new "move-in". It is standard for the apartment to be serviced in the following order: trash-out-remove all trash, leftover furniture and other junk left by the previous resident. Make ready- make all necessary repairs to appliances, lighting, plumbing, paint the apartment, have the carpet cleaned, and finally have cleaning staff or contractor clean the dwelling. If all of these services were not performed before you moved in, I would question the quality of the maintenance department and management of the place you moved into. One thing to consider is that they are human and may have overlooked painting the apartment. In either case, they should paint it for you at no cost and buy you dinner for the inconvenience.
