Is it ok for insulation to get wet, if dried properly?
Question:I had a pipe break in my house and we had some water run down an exterior wall of my house. We had a professional irrigation team come in and dry and dehumidify my whole house. However, on a portion of my exterior wall, which we know was very wet...they cut a hole in my drywall near the floor and set up an industrial sized blower against it. This quickly (in a day or two) dried up the entire wall (including the insulation). My question is this. Does that insulation need to be replaced? Or is it ok to leave it as it is, as long as it's dry?
Answers:
Should be okay because if it is rolled with backing it is stapled in place (or fastened in some manner).
But I would have follow up mold testing done just to be safe.
the problem is if the insulation got really wet it may have fallen down to the bottom of the wall, if you can tell if its still up in the wall where it belongs then its not a problem to leave it in there
if you want to see if its up where it belongs you could put a small hole near the top of the wall and look in there
B.
once it's wet you need to replica it.because now your insulation's is all bunch up .and you can still get black mole.and that's Reilly bad for your health.and do it your self.it's alot cheaper if you do it your self.
if you leave it alone and it dries its fine, but make sure it cant grow on something
