A tile popped off my shower wall. The back of the tile and wall has black on it. What is it?

Question:The sheetrock is not wet and neither was the back of the tile.

Answers:
You have a leak somewhere. Start picking out new tile because the sheet rock is going to have to be replaced behind the tile after the leak is fixed. Be careful when breathing, black mold is hazardous.

It is mold and is a bad thing especially the black kind. It is bad for your health especially breathing.
the black on the tile could just be the adhesive that was used to stick the tile to the wall.
maybe the back wall wasn't strong enought or the tile wasn't put in place

i would say it's because mold was eating around it
maybe its mold or moss...probably just a fungal growth as a result of the humid conditions in the bathroom.
sounds like black mold,if it is you need to have it professionally removed and treated. It is very dangerous to your health, get it checked out to be sure what it is
mold. Mold and Mildew cleaner may help clean it so you can put the tile back on.
ewwww~ unless your wall and tile are black that is mold, nasty.
slow moisture penetration over a period of time, you have mold. Use clorox to kill it.
the moisture from the heat when you take a shower or a bath with soap or not but even more with soap it turns into a black looking spot its alive dont worry it wont jump on you its mildew if you spray tilex on it it should break up abd die
