Am having problem replacing grout on tiled floor.Sub floor discoloration is bleeding thru new grout. Help?

Question:sub floor in bathroom is very discolored/ bleeds thru grout. This is a patch repair so not an option to use darker grout.Dont want to replace total floor.Have tried several layers of grout...areas stll bleed thru.Using sanded light colored grout.

Answers:
After removing old grout put, with a small brush, a coat of clear polyurethane before applying new grout. Give the poly overnight to dry. This will create a "plastic" barrier that will not allow anything to bleed through. Good luck

try grinding out the grout and install a backer rod or bodbreaker tape in the bottom of the joints, THen shoot a small bead of polyurethane caulk and tool smooth. THis will seal the joint from anything blleding through. THen regrout the joints. Make sure you have at least 1/2" deep mortar joint. This should stop the bleeding.
