I haven't run my dishwasher in 3 years - will it still work?

Question:I haven't used my dishwasher since I moved into my apartment three years ago and now I'm moving out and afraid it won't work and I'll end up getting charged for it. Is it bad for a dishwasher to not run it for that long?

Answers:
put some water in it using a bucket and see if it will come on dont just dry run it or the pump seals may start leaking, they probly are dry ,this will also help the motor, and you will find out if you have a leak quick!

Its fine
It should, try running it with nothing in it first, to get the dust out. Good Luck
It should still work, but you might want to run a cycle of it with nothing in the dishwasher to get the stale water out of the pipes that has been sitting there.. just throw some detergent in the dishwasher and let it run empty-- it'll be clean that way too -- more chance to get your deposit back :)

Also, if you test it and it works, you know that your landlord is lying if he says it's broken-
It's actually an advantage - no wear and tear on the machine. The only problem is a possible build-up of dirt. Why not try it once to see if it works?
You could be right it problemly does need service before use
It should be fine. Run it and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
It will probably work. It may also leak water from dried out seals. We bought one from Sears Scratch and Dent. It had a dried out seal from sitting and not being used. Dripped allot of water all over the floor.
