My garage door opener only brings my door about 3/4 of the way down then comes back up.?
Question:My garage door opener only brings my door about 3/4 of the way down then comes back up. Sometimes the wheels come off the track. How can i fixt it?
Answers:
The opener is bringing the door back up because there is to much resistance or the door or wheels in the track are hitting something. You need to adjust the track so that the wheels dont catch or drag. Then release the door from the drive and move the door up and down by hand. If the door works well and you still have problems you can adjust the senitivity of the opener.
The electric eye and receiver mounted at the bottom of the track (one on each side of the door) are out of alignment. Simply bend the bracket(s) holding them in place to visually re-align. When you get it right, the door will close properly.
Several possibilities:
1. Something is blocking the "electric eye" at the base of the door.
2. The transmitter / receiver are slightly out of alignment or something small is partially blocking the path.
3. The opener senses that it is taking too much torque to operate and stops to ensure it isn't crushing something. (there is an adjustment for this) (There should be a manual release that allows you to operate the door by hand. Make sure it operates freely before adjusting)
4. The door lost it's "program" and doesn't know how far to drive before the end.
