How do I remove Great Stuff foam sealant from a door frame?
Question:I am trying to remove a dog door (inserted into my sliding glass door). Whoever installed it used "Great Stuff" foam sealant to fill the gaps betweek the dog door insert and the sliding glass door frame. Any ideas on the best course of action?
Answers:
scrape away as much as you can with a putty knife or painters multi-tool. the rest (residue, NOT chunks) will come off with a petroleum based cleaner. WARNING. these cleaners work great, but can be dangerous to work with; read the warning labels. Also be very careful about using these cleaners on vinyl or wood frames. petroleum products literally melt away this kind of foam
Yea, Bust down the door buy a new one and install it in the massive gap you left behind.
You will just have to begin chipping away at it with something. My husband did that with another projuect and used too much and then had to begin scraping at it with a stanley box knife and a screwdriver, just be careful!
