Replacing carpet in my apartment, Ohio?
Question:I live in Ohio.
I am moving out of my apartment in October.
I've been here for 2 years.
When i first got my puppy he chewed up a few big spots in the carpet.
The apartments i live in are very nice. They were just built about 8 years ago.
Even though the apartment is nice, the carpet looks like the same tan carpet they put in all apartments.
What's the best way of getting the carpet replaced:
Should i call the apartment complex to see if i'm even aloud to replace it .. or should i just hire someone to replace it and not say a word to the apartment complex manager.?
Wheres the best place to buy just cheap tan carpet?
** The carpet on the steps is coming up on its own (not because of anything i did) .. should i bother replacing that or just leave that for them? If i leave it for the complex to replace, will i be charged?? **
Any advice, any help would be great =)
Answers:
. I would contact the owner iam sure he will help you out as far as the type of carpet he wants I manage apt. complex we buy our carpet by a large roll we use the same kind in every apt. i would not buy it on your own !! if he/she is a reasonable person iam sure he/she will work with you .if you leave it for the complex to replace they will not give you your security deposit back ,and might get mad if you did any thing on your own just be up front with them i know if it was me i would appreciate your honesty
call the complex manager they will be glad you are honest and told them about it they can tell you where to get the new carpet or they might just have some to replace it with ..
I'm sure they have done it before....and if you put down a deposit and you do not replace the carpet you will lose your deposit and get a bad reference for your next apartment
i thought your security deposit was for that purpose, you should only have to pay what it doesnt cover
