The thermostat is probably shot. This is a pretty common problem with window AC units, especially if you've had it for a few seasons. If the coils freeze over and no longer blows cold, it's probably time for a new one.
did they check the thermostat also? A lot of times if they go bad the air will not shut off.
You may check to what the temperature is set to. Most AC's only cool to about 20 degrees of the outside temperature. If, the service people did this correct then think, if it 90 F outside, it only going to cool to 70 F. There maybe a +/- but, I figure 20 Degree drop a good point. So, if you have the temperature set to 60 F and it 90 F outside it may keep blowing full force trying to get to that temperature.
One last thing. IF, the AC was off for a period of time, things in the house heat up to whatever the temperature is. Couches, Walls etc. As the AC try to cool, these give off heat, until they are cooled down. So, take this into consideration. Turn the Thermostat up until the AC cuts off. Later when it come on, drop it a few degrees. Eventually you get it back to normal. This will work best at night when it cooler outside.
Once everything cooled back down it should cycle off and on, if not, then the above answers are correct and you may need a new thermostat. IF, the service person did their job correct.
