Air lock in Bosch Worcester Combi Boiler?

Question:My friend's central heating boiler has broken down. A plumber said it is an air lock in the small water tank in it. Looks as though a special took is needed to release a screw on the side of it. Worcester Boilers want £180 call out charge! which they haven't got. Is there anything they can do? Does it need a special tool?

Answers:
most decent plumbers/boiler won't charge that ...

also if its to do with gas, they have to be corgi registered.
check that before letting them near it..

if its a matter of "bleeding" it like you would a radiator, i can't see how they justify so much..

try to find a person local who comes recommended+corgi reg'd and not one that was mentioned on rogue traders ;-)

depending on what model worcester boiler they have, there a different ways of venting,
try resetting the boiler, if you dont know how to, just turn off the power supply to it, then turn it on again. this may help push the air out.
Don't think it will be an air lock. That would flush out of the boiler when in use. Is the pressure up to 1 bar? If not re charge the system pressure. Is the heating side working? Call out a local engineer, might be cheaper, but ask the fees first.
