How do I install storm windows on a double and triple window?

Question:My house was built in 1933 and has old double hung windows. Single pane and most are double with some triple windows. I could double up some single storm windows but that would not be right. There is a small (1/2") trim piece around each window that runs flush with the middle piece. I did not think that would be enough material to attach a storm window onto. Thanks for all the help everyone!

Answers:
You need to use some Tapcons and build out the sides, with pressure treated wood, to the desired width/height.

I`m really curious to know why you want to put storm windows over these.
I guess they are THE most insulated windows there is.
If we`re talking hurricane force storms, Shutters is ALL I suggest.

If you have simply drafts or think you are losing heat/cool, my suggestion here would be to caulk Good. Inside and out.

Best to remove any existing caulk before doing so. Caulking over Old caulk is almost like not re-caulking them at all.

If this does`nt help window replacement is the only other option

Good Luck with it!
