Which way should a ceiling fan rotate in the summer?
Question:
Answers:
Summer------Clockwise Direction
Winter------Counter Clockwise Direction
LOOK up and the fan blades rotate Clockwise,
The object is to spread cooler air throughout the room. Cool air goes downward so you want to lift it up. Set the direction of the fan so the blades turn in the direction of the lowest part of the blade. This will "pick up" the air and distribute it.
In the summer the air should blow down and in the winter the air should blow up. There is a switch on the base of your fan...experiment and see which one is which.
I personally don't give a hoot about which way they are "supposed" to rotate---when I turn them on (we have 2 cieling fans in our living room) I wanna feel the breeze!!
Clockwise pushing the air down.
There is no one answer that applies to every case. Please see:

Also, "clockwise" or "counter clockwise" doesn't help because some manufacturers orient their blades differently.
