Don't eat the paint?
Question:Is it true that people who live in old apartments, or even old houses become less intelligent from old lead paint on the walls? People all say it's covered up by new paint, but nothing is 100.0000% perfect. I look around my apartment, and I can find trace amounts of old paint here and there, this place was built in like the '65, and lead health is also on the contract, and air blows around from wind with the windows open. Even if you don't eat the paint, do you breath it in?
Answers:
lol ofcourse not..
The paint is very old and has had years to dry. The only way this could effect you is if you were to set the paint on fire somehow (perhaps the apartment was burning down) and you were to breath in the smoke. Other than that you should be fine unless you are well, eating the paint.
You can breath it in if the lead based pant is disturbed. Such as sanding, chipping that sort of thing. So don't go picking at it ,or sanding it and your brain should be OK. Bye
ok here is the deal, If you have a contract then everything should be ok. I think that home owners that rent places are required by law to let the renter know if there is lead based paint in the home, but if you have a concern then you should talk to you landlord and see if they will repaint. As for eating paint. Yes Lead can be passed in the dust of your home, but that is if it has been in contact with lead particles. Lead can also be found in water if you use old lead based pipes in the home. What you realy want to make sure of is if the paint starts to peel or chip that you pick that stuff up fast so it can't be picked up by children. If you do have children you should have them tested for Lead by your family doctor.
