How do you use plumbing reducing sets?
Question:It's a 15mm to 10mm reducing set. Ok, so the 10mm tube goes in easy enough and the whole thing goes in to a 15mm compression joint. What holds it in place? Or am I completely missing the purpose of these things?
Answers:
Yes the whole thing goes into the 15mm fitting, then tighten the nuts onto the reducing set which tighten up on the 10mm pipe, the 15mm fitting has to be of the compression type of course to do this!
you need a 15mm to 10mm reducing coupling. Which is 15mm at one end and 10mm at the other. Put the nuts on the pipe first, the coupling should have a washer inside the nut, put these on the end of the pipes then screw into the remaining coupling. Should be a tight fit. Hope this helps! Good luck.
when i ask for a reducing set,, it comes with 3 pieces to fit into the 15mm fitting,,,, take out one of the 15mm olives,, the larger brass fitting fits into the 15mm fitting,, it can only go in one way snugly, then you put in your 10mm olive and then the smaller brass piece goes on top so when you put your 15mm nut on, the small brass piece sits flush with the top of the nut. tighten untill you feel a little resistance, tighten it too much and you will squash the olive and itll leak.
good luck.
