Lawnmower problem! Help!?

Question:I ran over the pull-cord and handle, because it was dangling off and I didn't see it right away. When the handle was chewed up, the cord got sucked back up into the whole unit - now what do I do?

Answers:
Take it to a small engine shop and have them replace the cord and handle. The cord was hanging out because the rewind wasn't working properly in first place, so if you take it to a shop and have the repair done properly the cord won't hang out and you won't end up repeating the same problem.
Trying to take apart a rewind can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. Let a pro do it.

You will have to remove the cover over the cord and put a new handle on it after you feed the cord through the hole in the cover.
You will need to wind the cord around the wheel to take up the slack and then re-attach the cover. That should put you back in business.
take the cover off of the lawnmower where the pull cord is, rewind what is left of the pull cord, you might have to use a pair of needle nose pliers or a pair of hemostats to get to it. once you have it UN wound go to the hardware store and by a new cord and handle. the instructions on how to install it should be on the package and you will be good to go.
I had the same problem, I opened the cover and unwound the cord and reattached the cord with a knot to make it stick and then reattached the cover.
