Does anyone know how....?
Question:... to buff away the not too deep scratches from the surface of wood furniture? Can it be done?
Answers:
Why don't you fill the scratches in with melted crayon that matches the color of the wood?
It can be done but watch out if they're veneer surfaces or that fake picture paper of wood. You can do it only if it's real wood surface... otherwise I would do the crayon trick.
Buffing is unlikely to do the job very well. Sanding with 600 grit and then1000 and then 2000 followed by polishing compound should do the trick if they are not too deep. If deep, will need to start with 150 grit, then 220 then 360 on to 600 etc. but you are likely to sand though the finish and have to refinish the furniture with this approach.
You can sandpaper it until it looks smoother. Or just call the proffesionals and have them do it. You can also fill it in with anything as long as it has the same color and texture. Otherwise than that, you shouldn't worry to much about it.
