Constantly hot radiators?
Question:All the radiators in my house are hot even when the central heating is turned off, this is melting me in this heat, any ideas
Answers:
heating isnt turning off then. dodgy programmer probably
are they storage heaters? if so make sure there switched off from the mains
They are still on, or every valve leaks.
First look to see if they can be turned off. Are they water radiators or steam?-if so- there should be a valve somewhere that is supposed to be closed.
If these are electric radiators, the switch is still on.
your bills must be rather large go on girl heat the world
I had that problem 2 years ago and it was something stuck open that shouldn't, sorry I'm not the most technical person on the planet! I had to get the council out and they changed the pump and a fuse thingy. It isn't anything that you can fix yourself.
Sorry mate, this sounds like a job for a plumber!
Do you have a combi boiler? Are you getting hot water?
Turn the radiators off at the valves at the bottom of the rad.
Sounds like the three port valve is stuck open get a sparky or plumber to replace it
Have you checked it isnt set to *constant*?
Sounds silly, but I have done it myself a few times.
it could be the motorised valve stuck open,,, if its been an ongoing problem since you had the boiler piped up,, then its the piping thats wrong,,,, the primary return from the cylinder should be the last return from the boiler.
You have either a zone valve or three port valve letting by, you will usually find these where your hot water cylinder is in the airing cupboard. It could also be just the motor part of the valve not working. Either way you will have to get someone in to check it out.
Sounds like you need a replacement motorised valve. Sometimes just the motor can be replaced but you might need the whole thing changed. A job for a heating engineer cos the valves have 5 or more wires and you need to know what you are doing. Not a difficult job though. In the mean time turn off all the radiators using the valves on either side. Remove the plastic cover and tighten down the spindle with a pair of grips. Set the hot water timing to the minimum you can get away with.
