How can you fix a leaky faucet?
Question:My bathroom faucet is a non stop drip.drip... and its driving me INSANE! Please, how do I fix it?
Answers:
You will have to strip it down to fix it and although they all work on the same princple they are nearly all different to take apart.
You have to get to the rubber seal and then replace it.
Go to a bathroom showroom or DIY store where they have displays or sell taps.
Find one like yours and either ask someone or just stand there and take it apart so that you know how it works befor you try your own.
A temporary measure would be to look to see if there is a service valve on the supply pipe near to the tap.
If there is turn it off to stop the drip.
Under the sink there should be a couple of knobs; turn them and the drip will stop. No water will come out of course.
If the faucet is old, measure the distance between the knobs because you'll need to know that to get a replacement. They don't cost that much.
If you want to fix it, you'll need a lot more instructions; so far, I have always just replaced the darn things so I never have to worry about them again.
If you want to fix them, the local hardware store can give you advice, but they will need to know sizes of the faucet and maybe a picture to be sure. Lots of hassle to still have an old faucet.
Shut the water off under the sink if it has a shut off valve. Unscrew the faucet valve out of the sink. Take it to hardware store. They can give you the right parts-if it is fixable. May only need an o-ring. if it is a bib washer type-don't fool with it-get a new faucet.
New faucets are not expensive if you don't have to get real ornate and snazzy.
Normally you need to change the valve washers.
First is a single handle are two handles. Depending on the type of faucet get the brand then go to local hardware store you need seats and washers for your type the single handle type will come with two washers and springs the process is then easy turn off water remove handle remove stem/cartridge install washers (if it is a older faucet you will need a seat wrench to change if not your all good) put back together and turn water on Bye Bye drip
