West Texas Septic Tank Rules and Regulations?

Question:I was told by a contractor hired to install a septic tank system on 11 acres of property in rual West Texas that soil samples taken from the lot require analysis in Austin and this is why after being paid a large sum of money up front, he can't start the job for more than one month. Can this be true? Do all septic installations require some sort of approval from the State Capitol? Seems odd.

Thanks for your comments.

Answers:
Simply call or go to your County zoning or codes division, they handle all these cases and, take the percolation tests whomever puts in the septic system. It sounds a little like the guy your dealing with might be trying to con you some. Maybe you'd better get three or four quotes before you decide whom to hire.
