How is a roof made-from start to finish?
Question:Explain in layman's language and step-by-step please

Wow, talk about a hard question to ask without writing a book. SOME specifics would be helpfull. Is it a flat roof, is the endresult terra cotta, asphalt shingle, cedar shakes, or another material?
Assuming that it is a standard asphalt shingle roof here u go:
1. build rafters using a pitch of at least 12 degrees and 16" centers.
2. Lay decking using at least 1/2" plywood (NOT MDF)
3. Lay roll roofing paper overlapping from the bottom to the top
4. Shingle the roof starting from the bottom and working upwards
