Clothes washer not working?

Question:I have an older model Kenmore top load washer that has been in storage for a couple of years. We ran one cycle to make sure the water was hooked up correctly, then I put some sheets in the next morning and it will not agitate or drain. The motor is running and it clicks through the cycles, but now it is full of water and nothing inside is moving.

My thought is maybe a belt? But would that explain why it's not draining? Thanks.

Answers:
hit it and/or kick it. Seriously though I would find out if it's under warranty still. I had a problem with mine and I found that I was just better off buying a new washer. I hate to tell you that after you lugged it out of storage.

If there is something that's maybe a $100 or less than maybe you should do it, but think how long is the rest of the washer going to last? I hope that helped you out.

maybe a belt and the pump..is bad
Sounds like a belt to me . They are not easy to replace on those machines . BTW , it`s actually a Whirlpool manufactured washer .

if it is an old kenmore than it is belt driven most likly the belt is broke or very loose if you have a drain in the floor then pull drain hose out an lay on floor the water will then sifon out by itself if you do not have a drain in floor then you can take a bucket and but hose in it till full then empty to change that belt it is pretty complicated you should have a repair man do it for you or else you will go insane trying to do this your self
