What chemicals can be used to clean outdoor pressure treated wood prior to staining?

Question:Essentially I got a fence that I want to stain. I was told I can use bleach to clean the wood? What types of safe chemicals can I use? I don't have a pressure washer.

Answers:
Thompson's® Water Seal™ Deck Wash

Follow the instructions.

Hi
On new fence it is better to let the wood weather for about a year before applying a new finish. This lets some of the chemicals escape from the treated lumber and lets the grain open up, so the new finish penetrates better

Just stain it, that is enough chemicals

Most all deck and fence cleaners contain bleach along with other chemicals. You can use bleach. Dilute it in water. 1 part bleach to 3 parts water. Using a scrub brush with a handle apply bleach to the wood and let set for at least 1/2 hour. Then rinse off.
