Get the kind that scoots itself around the pool. Your nearest pool supply place would know the best type for your pool shape. We had this kind, and it really worked well. You can also get the kind you have to run by hand, but that is so much more work. (You might still need the hand-vac if it gets really dirty - we had both). It was just so nice to turn it on and let it do it's thing. It will not go up the pool walls, however, just crawls along the bottom.
