Refrigerator at a cabin: Do I leave it on when I'm away, or turn it off?
Question:I'm there for a week or two and then gone for a month. I hate to leave it on because I don't leave food there. When I leave, I turn it off and leave the doors open. Is this good?
Answers:
You can leave it on because it will not use that much electricity since you're not opening the door all the time.
Set your thermostat at # 4 on the dial and you should be good to hook.
This way when you get back it will nice and cold ready to use and also store a couple of cold Buds in there so that you can enjoy a cold one when you start your relaxation.
yeah, that will be fine. Plus it will keep your bill down.
your poor
As long as you leave the doors propped open, it should be fine & last forever!!
hi
shut off power to fridge
leave door open and place baking soda box in it
It is better to leave it on. Constant unplugging can cause premature compressor problems. Besides, a refrigerator does not use that much electricity.
Perefct!!
No if you have any food or milk in it do not turn it off or leave the door open. If there is no food or drinks in it it's ok.
Hi
You need to leave your frig on, Once it once runs and the oil flow has gone through the compressor and lines it does not need to be shut down for a long length of time, it can and will harm your compressor.
turn the cool setting up, without food in the frig it will have to run more and longer, thus use more electricity. place an open box of baking soda in it and close the door, this will absorb any stale odor that might appear. remember when you return to lower your temp before placing food in the frig. good luck
You are doing it exactly right
Leave it on. Door open or closed it will stink. It will be ready and cold when you come back to add food and drinks.
it would be a whole lot easier on the fridge if you just turnded down the cold control to its lowest setting with out it being off that way every part of the fridge gets a work out
