My above ground vinvyl pool has turned GREEN!!?
Question:The weather was chilly, had the cover on it, Had taken turned the pump/filter off.. And tada yester pulled the cover off and what do You know GREEN POOL.
I did add some shock stuff, but belive I will need more.. The algae is only on the bottom of the pool.
I do recall the last swim in the bottomo was super slippery and I bushed it with the long brush attachment I have..
So last night when I discovered my "green pool" I scrub the bottom and could tell it was just the "floor" of the pool..
I also dipped a clear gas in the pool and the water looked totally clean..
I did try the test strips and believe it need something but wasn't sure, don't remeber.. Anyways...
I am going to take a water Sample in to the pool supply store and see what they say..
Do you know ANYTHING about this condition of my pool...
Is going to take a chemical? Or do I have drain the pool?
This is my 1st time ever with a "above ground" pool, Learning as I go!!
My pool is 13x39 inches..thanks
Answers:
Get test strips and check chlorine, pH, and alkalinity. Adjust the levels accordingly, by adding chlorine and pH increaser or pH decreaser. Always add algeacide at least 1x a week.
you need to buy some copper algae killer from the pool store,
if you are going to the pool supply store they should be able to help you ,but i bet they tell to double check your filter.
Very simple solution, you put the cover on resulting in algae, shock it good first with a liquid shock, add algacide and brush, run pool for a minimum of 5 hrs and vacuum. You need a clarifier also , (flocking agent) used to clump up the small particles so they can be vaccumed up, good luck
You will also want to make sure to backwash it really good after you clean it and again after a day or two to make sure you get the algae out of the entire system.
