Bath Taps??
Question:Just moved into my new house.
Whenever I run a bath the taps run hot and cold water as normal but as the bath gets to about half full, both of the taps trickle water out, rather than continuing to flow normally!
My bathroom sink taps run fine no matter what and run normally even if I have the bath taps on at the same time.
Whats wrong with them and why is this happening?
.and how can i fix?
Cheers for your help..
Answers:
You are drawing hot water too fast, and your cold water is trying to replace the water drawn off from the header tank as well as filling your bath. I suggest that you fill your bath with enough hot water only, then turn the hot tap off. Then turn on the cold tap. This doesnt happen on the bathroom sink becausetheyn are smaller size taps ans the hot tap on the sink is 15mm whereas on the bath it is 22mm. so you hot and cold taps can cope with this.
I could be wrong, but is it that your water tank's empty?
I changed my water tank some time ago and have never been able to get the bath as full as the new tank's smaller than the old one..
just a thought
what about start to use 'normal' proper taps like everywhere in europe and not the wierdos one you are used to?! then only after think how to fix it...!
Possibly bad seats, there may be loose washers plugging up the works.
Just a thought, how securely is the bath fixed in place, does it move or can you rock it? It could be that the taps are connected using flexible couplings and, as the bath gets heavier with water, it's moving and restricting the flow of water through the flexible pipework
Dave.
Are the bath & sink pipes on the same circuit?
It sounds like they are on two different circuits.
