My a/c isnt cooling in my home compressor comes on outside fan comes on ? confused?

could be a few things.Low on refrigerant charge,indoor blower not working correctly,dirty air filter,all of these will cause ice to form on refrigerant line(suction)(the bigger line).If system is a heat pump it could be the reversing valve not switching.
