How often I need my furnace (house heating) serviced?

Question:I have never serviced my furnace ever since I bought house. It's already been 4 years. Do I need to service them time to time? If yes, how often? Please help.

Answers:
you need to know if its oil fired or gas. gas is pretty much catalytic and needs little or no maintenance, it either works or it dont. oil however must!! be thoroughly serviced every year, oil filter. nozzle, vacuumed and adjusted if you dont want a $500 bill in the winter- 40 year plumber

every 5 years is what I was told by the dealer who installed mine
I would have it serviced every 2-3 years. This may help extend the life of the equipment and help to make sure it's as clean and efficient as it should be.
It depends on the type of system. Oil every year. Gas every two years. Electric every five years. Heat pump every two years.
