Did I ruin my window air conditioner?

Question:I purchased a window air conditioner unit last summer and it worked perfectly. Over the winter I moved and my new place has small windows so I rotated my unit 90 degrees. It worked perfectly for 3-4 days, but now the compressor will not turn on. I moved it to a different window, where it could sit horizontal, but the compressor still will not work...

Have I ruined my air conditioner? Is there any reset button I can push to get the compressor to kick on?

Answers:
i suggest letting it sit for a couple days without trying to turnit on. it is like a refridgerator- ithas to settle. or u could have ottento much liquid in the compressor whilst on its side- let it sti horizontal a few days. then try again

Yes you have ruined your compressor.
There is no reset button for this type of fault.
That is all that I can say on this matter as I am calling my A/C buddies to tell them what you did. Thanks for the laugh.
window ac are not meant to work sideways. the compressor motor sits on bearings ,you could have loose wires or damaged your ac.
Sorry
YOU DID WHAT?!! Compressors are filled with oil. The oil is used to lubricate the compressor when you turned your unit the compressor oil drained from the compressor, causing the compressor to seize. It's ruined.

This is important for refrigerators also or any type of refrigeration. If you tilt it, remember to set it up the way it is designed to stand and let it still over night, that way the refrigerant can boil out of the oil and the oil can drain back into the compressor.
now thats funny..go get you a smaller unit girl..this one just might be shot..let it sit for a few days and try again..
